Sherry Marquietta Lewis Helget, age 47, Powell, Tenn., formerly of Unicoi County, died, Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, after a short illness.
She was born in Burnsville, N.C., to Genevieve Edwards Lewis, of Erwin, and the late Freeman Lewis.
Mrs. Helget was a 1983 graduate of Unicoi County High School and was a graduate of Carson-Newman College.
She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell and was employed by Keller-Williams Realty. She was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army with 8 years of dedicated service.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister and always had a song in her heart, a twinkle in her eye, and a smile on her face. She became a friend to everyone she met.
Other than her mother, she is survived by her husband: Brian Helget; four children: Isaac, Isabella, Isamaria, and Isaiah, all of the home; two brothers: Gordon Lewis and wife Amy, Tommy Lewis and wife Tammy; one sister: Karen Hensley and husband Tom and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gordon Lewis, brother of the deceased, conducted the service.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 28, in Lewis Family Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Tennessee Honor Guard, consisting of the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and the Tennessee Army National Guard.
