Sam Troy Tipton

Sam Troy Tipton, age 86, Johnson City, TN passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Joe Henry and Nancy Barnett Tipton. Mr.Tipton attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. He retired from Black Diamond Enterprise where he worked as a mechani cal engineer. Mr.Tipton taught machine shop in Shelbyville, TN. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Johnson City American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Troy Tipton in 2006, his daughter, Christine Tipton, in April, 2013, six brothers, and three sisters.

Mr. Tipton is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Hyacinth FrancisTipton, one grandson, Michael Smith, and Keeli Parkey, Erwin, one granddaughter, Christy Lafollette, and David Ray and family, Johnson City, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Tipton will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 7:00 pm in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Reverend Kenneth Grindstaff will officiate, and special music will be provided by Inez Chandler.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

The committal service will be Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending the committal service are asked to meet at Unicoi Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
