Ruth W. King

Ruth W. King, age 82, 222 Fourth Street, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late Dave and Mattie Howell Wilson. Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of Canah Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Ned and Briscoe Wilson.

Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of sixty-one years, Charles E. King, Sr.; three sons: Charles E. “Eddie” King, Jr. and wife, Brenda, Junction City, KS, William C. “Chris” King, Jacksonville, FL, John W. King and wife, Keyla, Piney Flats; one daughter, Penny King, Chattanooga; two brothers: Theodore Wilson and wife, Marie, Richard Wilson and wife, Janice, all of Erwin; five sisters: Maude Clark, Baltimore, MD, Lois Woodby, Dorothy Renfro, Betty Ward, Trish Harrell and husband, Jackie, all of Erwin; two grandchildren: Kimberlyn and Jonathan King; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care for the professional and loving care over the past few weeks, especially nurse Becky Edwards and nursing assistants Deborah Briggs and Dawn Story.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Rusty Wishon and John King will officiate at the 8:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Kay Norris, Kayla Wilson accompanied by Inez Chandler, and Karalee Sprinkle. Pallbearers will be Eddie King, Chris King, John King, Jonathan King, Theodore Wilson and John Gouge. Committal service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Richard Wilson will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 P.M. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Department, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
