Ruth Velma Combs, 97, entered into rest Sunday, (February 19, 2017) at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Ruth was born in Scott County, VA on July 16, 1919, and was the daughter of the late George Price and Sallie McConnell Price.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Erwin, TN.
In addition to her parents, brothers, Robert, Carl, and Bernard Price; and sisters, Mary Maddux and Nellie Fields preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, David Combs and wife, Linda, Winston-Salem, NC and Don Combs and wife, Chris, Maryville, TN; grandson, Dr. Josh Combs and wife, Stacy, Lakenheath AFB, England; great grandchildren, Eva Combs, Ella Combs, and Oliver Combs, Lakenheath AFB, England; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor David Crutchfield officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Pallbearers will be Gary Price, Adam Price, Jordan Smith, Tim Hensley, and 1st Lt. Daniel Price.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at Arbor Acres Assisted Living in Winston-Salem, NC for their love and care for the past two years.
