Ruth Riddle Stancil, age 69, 131 Toney Ave., Erwin, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and was a daughter of the late James and Maggie Lance Riddle. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Stancil was a loving wife and sister.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Stancil in 1985; two brothers, Lee Riddle and Clarence Riddle; two sisters, Pearlean Story and Margaret Walker.
Survivors include three brothers: Johnny Riddle and wife Janice, Greeneville, Doyle Riddle and wife Karla, Knoxville, and Fred Riddle, Chattanooga; three sisters: Judy Metcalf and husband Bill, and Kate Lawing, both of Erwin, Edna Chrisman, Michigan; one aunt: Helen Griffith, Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive and her special friend, Billie Grace Peterson, Erwin.
Funeral service for Mrs. Stancil was at 7 p.m., Friday, April 20, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Crutchfield officiated.
Music was provided by Tim Riddle, Jake Riddle and Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers were Mrs. Stancil's brothers and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Bennett and Rick Bailey.
Interment was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, in Evergreen Cemetery.
Robert Ledford Funeral Home And Chapel was in charge.
