Ruth Eleanor Hinkle Evans

Ruth Eleanor Hinkle Evans, 97, formerly of 1507 Squibb Drive, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May, 24, 2015 at the Christian Care Center of Johnson City. She had been a resident there since her 92nd birthday on February 16, 2010. Mrs. Evans was a native of Greene County and a daughter of the late Martin Luther Hinkle and Olive Hinkle Hudson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ralph A. Evans (“Pop”) in 1999; her brothers, Lee Hinkle and David Hinkle; and her sisters, Mary Hinkle Yelton, Ina Hinkle Smith and Lucy Gaynell Hinkle James.

Mrs. Evans (“Nanny”) was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. She was “A planter of flowers”; “A lover of Animals” and “A baker of Cakes”. She deeply loved her grandchildren, Mike and Amy and was especially proud of her daughter, Gay. She and “Pop” attended every performance of the Gay Whitt School of Dance for as long as their health would allow. She also had a very special, loving relationship with her son-in-law, Jerry. “Nanny” so enjoyed the visits she had with her grandson-in-law, Deon.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Christian Care Center of Johnson City for their wonderful, loving care of “Ms Ruth”. Her spirit along with her “colorful” comments and phrases provided much enjoyment and entertainment for both her family members and the Christian Care staff.
