Ronald Chester Hensley Sr., 79, of Cosby, formerly of Johnson City, died Friday, Feb. 24, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Sanders of Knoxville.
He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University, having earned a masters of science degree.
Mr. Hensley worked as an electronic technician for Martin Marietta and for Nuclear Fuel Services as well as a school teacher and music teacher. He also enjoyed music and played in various bands, which landed him a speaking role as the band leader in the movie Coal Miners Daughter.. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Bernice Hensley and his brother Louis C. Hensley.
Survivors include his wife: Colette Hensley; daughter: Janice M. Hensley, Tampa, Fla.; sons and daughtersin- law: Ronald C. and Tena Hensley Jr., Elizabethton, Edwin M. and Nancy Hensley,
Clermont, Fla., Matthew and Tyneal Hensley, Cosby, and son Sean Hensley, Orlando, Fla.; step children: Candice Torongeau, Iva, S.C., and Keith Foster, Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, four step
children, and one step great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law: Harold E. and Marlene Hensley of Florida and sister Nancy Jo Robinson of Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held, and is being planned, for the end of March or early April.
