Roger Stanley Oaks, age 58, 102 Oaks Road, Unicoi, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Oaks was born in Johnson City but lived most of his life in Unicoi County. He was the son of the late Floyd and Willa Jean Henson Oaks.
He was employed by Marsh Propane, where he was the office manager for 13 years. Prior to that, he had worked for Duncan Gas for nearly 20 years. Mr. Oaks loved his work at Marsh LP Gas.
He was ready for the return of Christ, our Savior.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Oaks in 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Linda Ayers Oaks; two sons, Randall Oaks and wife Lisa, Johnson City, and Conley Oaks of the home; one granddaughter, Nakecia “Kecia” Oaks; three brothers, Kenneth Oaks and wife Jane, Jonesborough, Ronnie Oaks and wife Linda, Johnson City, and Jerry Oaks and wife Leisa, Erwin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve Bennett, the Rev. Steve Cochran and Pastor David Hutchins officiated.
Co-workers of Marsh LP Gas served as pallbearers.
Committal services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City.
Unicoi Funeral Home was in charge.
