Robert Lincoln “Link” White

Robert Lincoln “Link” White, age 90, 115 Penny Lane, Unicoi, went to be with the Lord at 10:37 P.M., Monday, September 28, 2015, from the Erwin Heal th Care Center, Erwin. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Solomon and Flora Smith White. Mr. White served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, AP Theater Ribbon and one Bronze Service Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon, having fought in the Battle of Luzon. Mr. White was co-owner of the Texaco Service Station in Unicoi during the 1950's and early 1960's. He was a well known automobile mechanic in Unicoi County. Mr. White retired in 1990 from Erwin Motors after many years of service. He was a member of Unicoi Church of God. Over the years, he served as teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class and Trustee. He never missed an opportunity to speak to others of the Salvation of Jesus Christ. He was a walking testimony. Other than his parents, Mr. White is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Hazel Marie Hensley White, who passed away in 2009; seven brothers, John White, Charles White, Alvin White, Andrew White, Burt White, James Ed White, and Eli White; two sisters, Delia McInturff and Minnie Bell Moore.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and special neighbors, the Speedy Hopson family, the Carl Butler family, the Bill Smith family, and very special friends, David and Debbie Doan.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at 2:00 P. M., Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Unicoi Church of God. Reverend Ronnie Holloway and Reverend Eddie Blazer will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Class of the Unicoi Church of God. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. The Committal Service, with military honors by the Kingsport VFW Post 4933, will follow in the Jones Cemetery, Unicoi.
