Robert Lee Edwards, age 68, 3110 Marbleton Road, Unicoi passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Edwards was a Washington County na tive and had lived most of his life in Unicoi County. He was a son of the late Lee Nathaniel and Tura Maudell Flannary Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a United States Army Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and was an expert rifleman. He retired from CSX Railroad as Locomotive Engineer after thirty-eight years of service. Mr. Edwards was a member of the BLE Local #781 and had also served as local chairman. He had served as Chairman of the Planning Board for the Town of Unicoi. Mr. Edwards was a member of the First Christian Church, Johnson City. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Edwards.

Mr. Edwards leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 46 years, Marsha Chitwood Edwards; one son, Michael S. Edwards and wife, Stephanie; one daughter, Amy N. Edwards, all of Unicoi; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Edwards; four brothers, Ronnie Edwards and wife, Lorraine of Valley Forge; Wayne Edwards and wife, Betty and Harold Edwards and wife, Marty, all of Johnson City; Ted Edwards and wife, Donna of Unicoi; one sister, Brenda Beatty and husband, Mark of Stanley, NC; several nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, Rascal.

The Edwards family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. Monday, June 6, 2016 in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Johnathan Feathers, Minister and Dr. William Gwaltney will officiate at the 8:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be George Ellis, Wayne Hill, Jason Lowe, Steve Lowe, Larry Edwards and Lester Chaffin. Committal service will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday in the Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Military honors will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post #4933. You may meet at the Unicoi Funeral Home by 9:30 A. M. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
