Robert K. “Bob” Helton

Robert K. “Bob” Helton, age 66, of Erwin, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. He was born in Erwin on April 2, 1945, to Beatrice Gilbert Helton and the late Ernest Helton.
He lived most of his life in Chattanooga, where he graduated in 1963 from Kirkman Technical High School. He returned to Erwin after his retirement from Service Associates Inc., where he was a service manager. He was a member of East Lake Christian Church, in Chattanooga.
In addition to his father, Mr. Helton is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Helton, his maternal grandparents, Carl and Melda Gilbert, his paternal grandparents, Clint and Olga Helton and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lynda Clark Helton; sister: Jeanne Underwood and husband Ronnie of Oak Ridge; brother-in-law: Lynn and Terri Clark of Ringgold, Ga.; nieces and nephews: Troy Underwood, Julie Underwood and her children Brittany Currier and Jacob Underwood and Karen and Heath Metcalf and their children Jerni, Kyrstin and Christian Metcalf; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special cousin: Johnny Tipton; special friends: Trudy Butcher, Sherry Morrison and Mary Bowman, and his beloved dachshund, Dudley.
Funeral services for Bob Helton were conducted on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Valley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter L. Gienapp officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
Valley Funeral Home was in charge.
