Robert Earl Pressler

Robert Earl Pressler, age 78, 120 Carver Drive Extension, Unicoi, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the home of his daughter, Betty Wolfe, in Romulus, Mich.
He was born June 9, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Robert Anderson and Wilma Marie Brubaker Pressler.
Mr. Pressler was a member of the Romulus Lions Club, started the Romulus Police Reserves, member of the Downtown Development Authority of Romulus, on the Pumpkin Festival committee in Romulus, and the Romulus Progressive Club.
He was a avid woodworker, going to craft shows throughout the area with his wife. He also enjoyed gardening.
Locally, he was very active and a devoted member of Unicoi Church of God since 2000. He served his church in various capacities and assisted with several church activities such as the Apple Festival.
He was Captain of the Unicoi County Court Officers.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Betty Jean Pressler, who died Oct. 10, 2010; one daughter: Bonnie Pressler; one sister: Carolyn Gissinger.
Survivors include daughters: Brenda Larch and husband Robert, Henderson, N.C., Betty Wolfe and husband Edward, Romulus, Mich., Billie Jones and husband Floyd, Dearborn, Mich.; three grandchildren: Christy Campbell, Robert Larch, and Jesse Jones; three brothers: Roger Pressler and wife Joy, Akron, Ohio, Richard Pressler and wife Ruby, Hartville, Ohio, Thomas Pressler and wife Karen, Uniontown, Ohio; one sister: Barbara Mullins, Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mr. Pressler will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Unicoi Church of God, with the Rev. Ronnie Holloway officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, prior to the service, between the hours of 5-7 p.m.
Active pallbearers selected by the family will be Jesse Jones, Robert Larch, Edward Wolfe, Doug Pressler, Richard Pressler, and Thomas Pressler. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Pressler’s fellow officers of the Unicoi County Courts.
The committal service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Roselawn Memorial Park.
