Richard H. “Dick” Young, Jr.

Richard H. “Dick” Young, Jr., age 75, Unicoi Drive, Unicoi, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 9, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Miami, Florida, a son of the late Richard Howard and Gwendolyn Jones Young. He retired in 1996 from CSX Railroad as Assistant Vice President of Transportation after 49 years in the railroad business. Following his retirement he and his wife moved to Unicoi County. Mr. Young was a member of Wildwood Masonic Lodge # 92 F&AM and the Shriner's Temple in Jacksonville, Florida.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom Young and Harry Young.
Mr. Young is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Rebecca “Becky” Blanton Young; four daughters, Renee Schenck and husband, Reverend Jed Schenck, Flagstaff, Arizona, Kathleen Young Jeswald and husband, Jon, Walnut Creek, California, Grace Wall and husband, Scott, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tracy Matthews, Johnson City, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Wildes and husband, Don, Flowery Branch, Georgia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service for Mr. Young will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro, North Carolina. Reverend Jed Schenck will officiate. Cliffside Masonic Lodge # 460 F&AM will also provide last rites at the graveside.

Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the graveside service at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
