Rhatlas Warren Peterson

Rhatlas Warren Peterson, age 90, of Erwin, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his residence. He was a native of Green Mountain, N. C. and a son of the late Dave and Ann Lee Garland Peterson. Rhatlas retired after 38 years of service as a Carman with the former Clinchfield Railroad. He served in the U. S. Army during the WWII, with medals received such as: World War II Victory Medal; Good Conduct Medal; American Theater Ribbon; and EAME Theater ribbon W/2 Bronze stars. In addition to his parents, Rhatlas is preceded in death by a son: Dennis Michael Peterson, daughter: Martha Ann Tolley, brothers: Boyd, Loyd, Kenneth and Darrell Peterson, sister: Atlas Peterson, father and mother-in-law: Martha and Geter Deaton, brothers-in-law: James and Glen Deaton

The life of Rhatlas Warren Peterson will be remembered and honored in a Graveside service to be at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 14, 2013, at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Military Honors. Bishop John Edwards will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Gary Ollis. Pallbearers are: Johnny Williams, Alan Green, Matt Howell, Dennis Peters, Terry Tipton, Mark Peterson, Jeffery Deaton, Jim Deaton, Mike Deaton, Brian Cloyd, Greg Pohto and Randall Masters. Those attending are asked to meet at 1:30 at Valley Funeral Home to go in procession to Roselawn cemetery on Friday. The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Fresenius Medical Care for the assistance and care given to Rhatlas.
