Ramona “Mona” Johnson Gouge

Ramona “Mona” Johnson Gouge, age 84, 547 Washington Street, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord at 11:37 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Center on Aging and Health.
She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and was a daughter of the late Sherman and Alice Britt Johnson. Mrs. Gouge was dedicated member of West Park Street Church. She retired from Hoover Ball in 1990 after 25 years of service. Mrs. Gouge was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Katherine Gouge three brothers, Robert “Bob” Johnson, Harley Johnson and Lee Johnson, two sisters, Elizabeth Sparks and Dorothy Johnson.

Mrs. Gouge is survived by one son, Alan Keith Gouge and wife, Wendy, Lakeland, Florida; three daughters, Martha Edwards and husband, Roger, Jonesborough, Beth Hopkins and husband, Earl, Erwin, Sally Shaw and husband Chuck, Campbellsville, Kentucky; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Hartsell, Erwin. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service for Mrs. Gouge will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Darrell Shelton will officiate.
Special music will be provided by Roger Edwards, Nancy Thompson and Inez Chandler.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Edwards, Earl Hopkins, Alan Hopkins, Chuck Shaw, Josh Gouge and Jamie Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the homes of her daughters.

The committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Martin's Creek Cemetery.
Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
