Born to Harry and Ollie (Benge) Dumond September 22, 1936 and named after her two grandmothers, Mary (Lane) Dumond and Cora (Payne) Benge, Coralee was raised in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, attended 2 ½ years at Hulbert High School and graduated from Tahlequah Senior High School in 1954.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Elwins Bottling Company in Tulsa until she joined the U.S. Air Force where she met James (Jim) Webb of Erwin, Tennessee. They were both stationed at S.A.C. Headquarters, Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska. After dating for 15 months they were married in the First Baptist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa with Rev. Knight officiating on July 19, 1957. They were able to return there for a visit on their 50th Anniversary. They have been married for over 58 years and have three sons.
Jim worked in construction so they did move quite a lot. One son was born in Hickory, North Carolina and the other two in Yreka, California. They lived in North Carolina, Virginia, California, Florida, and Tennessee. They moved to Wagoner, Oklahoma in 1971 and remained since. She retired from Wagoner County Department of Human Services after 26 years as a clerk, typist, and receptionist.
Coralee loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very creative and had several hobbies, especially painting and woodcarving. She also enjoyed doing stained glass, sewing, crocheting, reading, writing, and pontooning. Her passion was the University of Oklahoma Sooners Ladies’ Basketball, the Tennessee Lady Vols, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. She often said she had to stop and think sometimes and realize she grew-up without computers, cell phones, fast food restaurants, interstate highways, 40 inch flat screen LCD TVs, satellite radio, microwaves, and much more.
Coralee was preceded in death by her parents. She was the last living member of her siblings, four brothers Herb Dumond, Frank Dumond, Van Peebles, and Johnnie Wayne Dumond, also a sister, Cherrie Johnson. She was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Louise Dumond, Susie Peebles, and Lavern Dumond, brother-in-law Percy Johnson and a very dear niece, Dorothy Peebles.
She is survived by her best friend, her loving husband, Jim, of over 58 years, three sons, Jimmy of the home, Herb and his wife Vickey of Polson, Montana, and John Edward and his wife Vickie of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Her favorite granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Joshua of Lawrence, Kansas and New York, New York. Her favorite grandson Matthew Webb and Shannon and her favorite great-granddaughter Shyanne of Miami, Florida. Sisters-in-law Rosie Dumond-Tramel and Joyce Sharp of Hulbert, Oklahoma. Several very special in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
