Mr. Paul Frederick Schutt Jr

Mr. Paul Frederick Schutt Jr., age 83 of Amelia Island, FL passed away on Thursday evening, October 1, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center.
Born in Toledo, Ohio on September 1, 1932, he was the youngest of two children born to the late Paul F. and Genevieve Carl Schutt. Mr. Schutt graduated from Gibsonburg High School in Gibsonburg, Ohio. After high school he attended, the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and the University of Arizona in Tucson from where he graduated with his Master’s Degree in Nuclear Physics. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. While attending IIT in Chicago he met his future wife “Suzi” Berry; who would become his wife in 1956. Mr. Schutt was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
He started many businesses related to the nuclear field and was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” while living in Atlanta, Georgia. During his career he traveled most of the world, published many papers and registered several patents. Mr. Schutt and his wife retired to Amelia Island after selling their business, Nuclear Fuel Services, which manufactured nuclear fuel for the United States Navy.
He and his wife were faithful members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Amelia Island.
Mr. Schutt’s interests were his family, reading, books, gardening and fixing most anything.
His belief which he stated frequently was “I believe in God, Family and Country”.
He is preceded in death by a son, Charles Paul Schutt, his sister, Marjory and his parents.
Mr. Schutt leaves behind, his wife, Suzi Schutt, children, Stephen and his wife, Susie, Kevin and his wife, Linda, Kerry and his wife, Lessa, Roosevelt and his wife, Linda, Andrea and her husband, Brian, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four nieces.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend Father Jose Kallukalam, Celebrant. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Mr. Schutt will be laid to rest in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Oxley Heard Funeral Home.
