Millard H. Hopson

Millard H. Hopson, age 96, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born September 25, 1919 in Hawk, North Carolina to Ro osevelt and Lizzy Hopson and was the eldest of five children. Mr. Hopson served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from the Army Reserve in 1974 with the rank of Major. He continued to work for U. S. Civil Service and retired at Carswell Air Force Base. Other than his parents Mr. Hopson was preceded in death by his wife of forty-three years, Edith Charlotte Hopson on June 27, 1997 and three brothers.

Millard leaves behind to cherish his memories two daughters: Sandra Lawley and husband, Chuck of Fort Worth and Karen Wallerstedt and husband, Darren of Bedford; four grandchildren: Crystal Pettigrew, Lance Lawley, Sara Wallerstedt and Wendy Kosier; two great grandchildren: Raven and Paige Pettigrew; a sister Grace Broome of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, January 2, 2016, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Tapp will officiate. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The VFW Post # 4933 will render military honors at graveside with Calvin Smith presiding.
