Maxine Whitt Jarrett, 87, Erwin, died April 27, 2011 at Four Oaks Health Care Center in Jonesborough. A native of Erwin, she was the daughter of the late Paris Haymaker and Nana Mae Hatcher Whitt.
Mrs. Jarrett was a registered nurse, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Eli Jarrett; brothers Bill, Bud, Bus, and Jack; and sisters Gladys and Marie, and son-in-law Butch Staubs.
Survivors include her twin daughters: Jeanne Jarrett and Joyce Staubs; son: Terry and wife Karen Jarrett; grandchildren: Joel Staubs, Jason Jarrett, and Jenna Jarrett; brothers: Jerry and Bob; sisters: Helen and Kathryn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Dr. David Roberts officiated.
Pallbearers were Doug Allen, Michael Allen, Brian Allen, Mike Whitt, Deon Bachman, and Ralph Sparks Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Whitt, Bob Whitt, Terry Jarrett, Jason Jarrett, and Joel Staubs.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123, or the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Rd Ste 6, Johnson City, Tenn. 37601.
