Maxine C. Cooper, age 79, of Erwin, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Robert C. and Inez Peters Cox.
Mrs. Cooper was employed as a typist by the U.S. Navy and later by the Army Map Service. She had been a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church since 1987. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Marcus and Betty Cox.
Survivors include her husband: William “Bill” G. Cooper, of Erwin; daughter: Rebecca Sue Ketron, Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters: Geneva Marcus, Johnson City, Norma Hayes, Johnson City, Jan Bowman, Laurel, Md., Pat Bolinger, Limestone, Delores Jones, Johnson City; and grandson: Jonathan K. Hensdill, Radford, Va.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 24, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. David Crutchfield officiated. Music was under the direction of Gary Amos.
Interment followed at Washington County Memory Gardens.
