Maurice E. Sneed

Maurice E. Sneed, age 87, 550 South Main Avenue, Erwin passed away on Wednesday, Novemeber 25, 2015 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Alfred and Betty Blevins Sneed. Mr. Sneed was a United States Navy Veteran. He retired in 1990 as a pipefitter for CSX Railroad after forty-six years of service. Mr. Sneed was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, served as a Deacon and was choir director. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two sons: Stanley and Jerry Sneed; one great grandson, Samuel Blake Hensley; several brothers and sisters.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of sixty-nine years, Juanita Davis Sneed; one daughter, Regina Sneed Oaks and husband, Garry of Roan Mountain; one granddaughter, Brandy Oaks Hensley and husband, Chris of Jonesborough; two great grandsons: Jackson and Roman Hensley of Jonesborough; one daughter-in law, Patricia Coffey Sneed of Erwin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 12:30 P. M. until the hour of service at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, Erwin. Reverend Gordon Lewis and Reverend Andy Patterson will officiate at the 2:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by the Trinity Freewill Baptist Choir, Trinity Trio, Mike Foster and Donna Lewis. Men of the church will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darius Fender, Gene Thomas, Jack McKinney, Ron McKinney, Richard Lewis, Mike Foster, Kenneth Foster and Donald Tittle. Interment will follow at the Bell Cemetery in Unicoi. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 1221 North Main Avenue, Erwin, TN 37650 in memory of Mr. Sneed. The Sneed family would like to extend a special thank you to Donald Tittle, Tim and Cindy Simmons for all of their love and support.
