Mary Evelyn Foster, age 39, 505-1 Lindsey Road, Unicoi, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. She was a native of Washington County but had lived in Unicoi County most of her life.
She was a daughter of John Foster and Wanda Smith Foster. She worked at the former Moody Dunbar’s Pepper Mill.
She attended Maranatha Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Gail Foster; maternal grandfather, Emory Smith; paternal grandparents, Garney and Evelyn Foster; aunts, Dolly Casey and Mary Ada Yater; and uncles, Bobby Smith, Jimmy Foster and Ron Foster.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a daughter, Kelly Higgins of the home; maternal grandmother, Mary Smith of Erwin; aunts, Essie Foster of Unicoi, Myrtle Smith of Erwin, Trula Casey of Unicoi, Judy and Harold Richardson of Jonesborough, Ruby and Darrell Shell of Erwin, Nancy and Junior McNabb of Limestone, Jewal and Alford Hensley of Erwin, Bernice and Michael Rice of Erwin, and Polly Butler of Jonesborough; uncles, David and JoAnn Foster, Everette and Helen Foster, and Dale and Christine Foster, all of Erwin; special friends, Catherine Richardson and Gerald Guinn of Unicoi; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Michael Rice and E.L. Wheeler officiated. Vocal selections were provided by the Brown Family and by the Dugger Family.
Graveside services immediately followed and were held at Bumpass Cove Cemetery.
Valley Funeral Home was in charge.
