Mary Ernestine “Ernie” Clouse Orren, 85, died Monday, Feb. 14, at Hawthorne Inn of Lakeland, Fla., after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and lung cancer.
Mrs. Orren was born in Erwin Dec. 29, 1925, to Ernest and Joanne Clouse. She was a graduate of Unicoi County High School.
In 1947, she married Vernon Franklin Orren of Johnson City, and in 1954 she moved with her husband and two children, Kathryn Suzanne and Edward Terry, to Lakeland, Fla.
Mrs. Orren retired as a paraprofessional with the Polk County Board of Public Instruction in 1990.
She was an elder at the First Christian Church in Lakeland, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and an avid supporter of Lakeland Community Theatre.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Franklin Orren; her son, Edward Terry Orren; and one grandson, Cristen Sean Orren.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Suzanne Campbell Jarrett; a grandson, Michael John Hall; and a great-grandson, Wiley.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Orren’s life will be held Saturday, March 5, at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Fla., at 2:30 pm.
