Margaret L. Blankenship, 95, formerly of 1203 Ben Gamble Road, Jonesborough, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Life Care Center of Greeneville, where she had made her home for the past two years.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. Daniel S. and Mary E. South.
She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roscoe C. Blankenship, February 8, 1989; two daughters: Mary Ellen Presell, May 8, 1984, and Alice Sherfey, December 17, 1998; a sister and brother in law: Clara & Carl Cade; several brothers and sisters-in-law; parents-in-law: William Press and Ellen Tilson Blankenship; and a daughter-in-law: Myrtle Blankenship.
Survivors include her sons: Paul Blankenship, Mt. Juliet, Daniel Blankensip, Johnson City, James Blankenship and wife, Nancy, Chuckey; daughters: Mable Blankenship, Johnson City, and Bernice Ledford and husband, Russell, Telford; grandchildren: David Blankenship and wife, Marlo, Maryland, Connie Sullivan and husband, Shawn, Colorado, Sandra Crews and husband, Dale, Jonesborough, Shirley Housewright, Fall Branch, Robert Ledford, Telford, John & Paul Sherfey, Jonesborough and two other grandchildren; step-grandchildren: Shirley Bennett, Mt. Juliet, and Gene France, Jonesborough; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew, brother & sister-in-law: Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Blankenship, Doris Blankenship, Johnson City.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 22, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Tyding and Dr. James Ray McKinney officiating. Interment services followed at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Blayne Housewright and family & friends.
Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home was in charge.
