Margaret Claudean Carpenter, 86, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2018. She was a native of Erwin. Margaret was known to everyone as Claudean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; and grandson, Bryan Hankus. She was the daughter of Lattie and Henrietta Tipton.
In Erwin she worked at the Industrial Garment, 1967 transferred to Kentucky, in 1969 she moved to Greenville, SC to work for Stone Manufacturing, and returned to Erwin in 2002 after retirement from Cooper Industries in Black Mountain, NC.
In 2015, due to health reasons, she moved to Michigan to live with her son and daughter in law, Greg and Cathy. She was a proud member of the Evergreen First Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Moose where she served on the Board of Regency and Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
Surviving is her son, Gregory; daughter in law, Catherine; grandson, Scott Hankus; and brother-in-law, Bobby Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
Burial services will be held on Thursday, September 6th, 11:00am at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3033 South Roan St., Johnson City, TN
