Mardell Greene Davis, age 85, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, after a year-long battle with leukemia. She was born on Nov. 3, 1927, to Roscoe and Venie Buchanan Greene.
She grew up and lived most of her life in Limestone Cove, before moving to Orange Park, Fla., in 1990. Mrs. Greene retired from Industrial Garment in Erwin and then worked as a sales associate at Dillard’s department store until the age of 77.
She was a long time member of Limestone Cove Memorial Union Church and attended Ninth Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Clyde Davis; brother, Ray B. Greene; sister: Mary Nell Cole; grandchildren: Jacob Allen Wickert and Carrie Ann Wickert; and nephews: Alvin Gene Clark and Richard Andrew Cole.
Survivors include children: Linda Gail Wickert and husband Roger, Elizabeth Ann Loyd, Michael Clyde Davis and wife Gracie, Gregory Steven Davis and wife Theresa; grandchildren: Timothy DavisLoyd and wife Danielle Hinckley, Justin Michael Loyd, Abbie Davis Shipe and husband Brian, Courtney Davis Poole and husband Jason; step-granddaughter: Michelle Lehosit; great-grandchildren: Ellison Anne Shipe, Davis Graham Shipe, Ella Sophia Loyd, and Peyton Anne Loyd; sister: Norma Clark; sister-in-law: Marie Greene and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Delbert Story officiated.
A Committal service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Roselawn Memory Gardens
