Mack William Loyd, age 89, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Center on Aging and Health. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Joe and Nettie Deweese Loyd. He worked in the maintenance department of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for 34 years. Mack was a charter member of Hulen Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, and taught Sunday school. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Mr. Loyd enjoyed trout fishing and watching Vols Football. In addition to his parents, Mack is preceded in death by his wife in 1992, Gladys Tipton Loyd.

Grandchildren: Angela Stansell, Amy Loyd, Mark Loyd, Timothy Loyd, Justin Loyd, Gina Loyd, Joey Loyd, Rachael Loyd, and John Loyd.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. and continue until 7:00 P.M. The life of Mack William Loyd will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Robert English will officiate. A graveside committal service will be held following the funeral service on Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Loyds grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
