Louise “Pete” Harvey, age 95, 731 Love Street, Erwin, passed away Monday afternoon, March 18, 2013, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. “Pete's” sister, Mary Elizabeth “Katy” Campbell, age 97, of Erwin, passed away February 11, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Union, South Carolina.
“Pete” was born November 18, 1917 and “Katy” was born August 11, 1913, daughters of the late Harry Edmund “Pop” and Elizabeth “Jenn” Crist Campbell. They both were lifelong residents of Erwin and members of the First Christian Church. “Pete” was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. “Katy” was a graduate of both Bruneau University, Gainesville, Georgia and East Tennessee State University.
“Pete”, as she was affectionately known, was a well known and beloved retired teacher in the Unicoi County School System after dedicating many years to the education of many young people in Unicoi County. She worked so diligently with both the elementary sports program and Erwin and Unicoi County elections. She was a faithful volunteer with the Unicoi County YMCA after retirement from her teaching career. “Pete” loved all athletic events and was an avid Vol's sports fan.
She was the widow of Elmer Harvey, a survivor of the “Bataan Death March”, only to die later in a concentration camp as a prisoner of war.
“Katy”, as she was affectionately known, was also a longtime, retired teacher at Unicoi County High School and was well respected by both her peers and students. “Katy” was very active with Theatre Arts both as a performer and director.

Other than their parents, they were preceded in death by one sister, Norma Campbell Johnson.

“Pete” is survived by two nephews, Harry Johnson and wife Ann, Oak Ridge; David Johnson, Erwin; one niece, Jill Browne Dutton, Union, South Carolina; two great nephews, Scott E. Johnson, Northbrook, Illinois, Geoffrey H. Dutton, Augusta, Georgia; three great-great nephews, Spencer Johnson, Blake Johnson and Nash Johnson, all of Northbrook, Illinois.

“Katy” is survived by her daughter, Jill Browne Dutton, Union, South Carolina; one grandson, Geoffrey H. Dutton, Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral service for Louise “Pete” Harvey and a Memorial Service for Mary Elizabeth “Katy” Campbell will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, in the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Dr. Todd Edmondson will officiate. A Eulogy for “Katy” will be provided by Emily D. Joyce. They will be interred together in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family of “Pete” and “Katy” will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Thursday prior to their service in the mausoleum chapel.
