Lou Ella Layne

Lou Ella Layne, age 72, of Erwin, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Clem and Mary Lloyd Shell.
Mrs. Layne was retired from Industrial Garment/Red Cap Industries after 35 years of service. She attended Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
She loved bluegrass music, dancing, and going on bus tours. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being surrounded by family and friends.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a step-son, Paul Douglas Layne; sister, Patsy Blankenship; niece, Tammy Blankenship, and nephew, Buddy Blankenship.
Survivors include her husband: Millard “Bird” Layne; step son: Kevin Layne and wife Tammy of Erwin; step daughters: Linda Lou Fields and husband Sam of Pritchard, W. Va., Janet Lee Cox and husband Roger of Warren, Ohio, Debrah Sue Miller and husband Sonny of Mansfield, Ohio; brother: Doran Lee Shell and wife Pat of Erwin; nieces and nephews: Brenda Jarrett, Bonnie Gilbert, Christine Galloway, Tanya McInturff, Josh Hull, Scott Galloway, Jake Hull, Chelsea Gilbert, Darius Shell, and Missy McCurry.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, at 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Gilbert officiated.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 11 a.m., at Garland Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Chris Lewis, Josh Hull, Scott Galloway, Jake Hull, Bud Blankenship, and Greg McInturff. Roger Hull will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
Valley Funeral Home is in charge.
