Lloyd Hensley

HensleyLloyd Hensley, age 93, 175 Lloyd Hensley Lane, Erwin, passed away on Monday, January 30, 201 7 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He lived in Detroit, Michigan for thirty-two years until he retired and moved back to Unicoi County. Mr. Hensley was a son of the late Garrison and Lydia Higgins Hensley. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during WWII. Mr. Hensley retired from General Motors where he was employed as a machinist. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hensley was a member of the Southeastern Autorama Club. He loved bluegrass music and was skilled at playing the mandolin and fiddle.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by fourteen siblings.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of forty-seven years, Alice Ledford Hensley; seven sons: Robert Wetherholt and wife, Ann of Mesquite, TX, Kevin Hensley of Sullivan, IN, Ronald Scott Hensley, Brian Clay Hensley, Dan Riddle and wife, Patty, Mark Riddle and wife, Christine, all of Erwin, Timothy Riddle of Jonesborough; four daughters: Ann Tipton of Piney Flats, Lisa Buchanan and husband, James of Birmingham, AL, Lacey Hensley and Allix Hensley, both of Erwin; twenty grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Jeff Simmons will officiate. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 P. M.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Hensley to the charity of their choice.
