Linda Slagle Laughrun, 75, of Unicoi, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2016, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Yancey County, N.C. and a daughter of the late Farrell and Estelle B. Slagle of Johnson City. She graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1958 and East Tennessee State University in 1963 with a BS degree in Nursing. Linda retired in 1989 after working many years as a Registered Nurse.

Linda married the love of her life, Clark Laughrun in 1962. Clark and Linda had a truly loving and blessed marriage for 54 wonderful years. Linda was very active in church and loved teaching Sunday School Classes. She was a member of Martindale Baptist Church. Linda, or MaMaw to her grandchildren, was a very devoted wife and mother who loved her God, her family, her many friends and loved making all those around her happy. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by brother: Max, sister: Lucille, and grandson: Adam.

Grandchildren: Mackenzie, Lindsey, Joshua, Joseph, Olivia, Mya and Maleah

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Linda Slagle Laughrun in a funeral service to begin at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Laughrun will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and will continue until service time on Thursday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Pastor Daniel Broyles and Rev. Delbert Storie officiating. Those who plan to attend will meet at the cemetery by 10:50 am on Friday. Pallbearers will be notified.

Flowers are welcome, at the sender’s option, memorial donations may be made to Martindale Baptist Church, 2406 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, TN 37601, or to Tri Cities Baptist Church, 171 Promised Land Drive, Gray, TN 37615.
