Leonard C. “Rowdy” Yates

Mr. Leonard C. “Rowdy” Yates, age 52, of Erwin, died Monday, January 27, 2014.

Known to his family as “Spud”, Leonard was born in High Point, NC. He lived in Erwin for most of his life and was the son of Leonard Eugene and Rose Randolph Yates.

Leonard graduated from David Crockett High School.

He was proud of his service as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, Leonard is survived by: his wife of 27 years, Rhonda Patterson Yates; three sisters, Robin Hyder and her husband Mike, Lisa Frazier and her husband Raymond, and Amanda Leonard and her husband George; five nieces and nephews, Caleb Frazier, Delilah Greer, Julia Leonard, Deidra Leonard, and Jackson Leonard; and his beloved dog, Boo.

Leonard, and his wife Rhonda, own the Mountain View Bakery in Chuckey. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle. Words cannot express our loss. This void can never be filled.

The family of Leonard “Rowdy” Yates will receive friends from 5 to 6 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 6 PM. Rev. Caleb Frazier and Mike Hyder, Minister will officiate.
