Lena W. Justice, age 83, of Erwin, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at her home. Lena was born in Unicoi County on September 27, 1928, to the late Fieldon and Minnie Engle White.
She was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She was a seamstress and retired from Red Cap Industries after more than 30 years service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Lucille Pate and Alma Elkins.
Survivors include: a son: Alan and Jeanne Justice of Erwin; daughter: Rebecca Tilson of Erwin; sisters: Thelma Shipley of Kingsport and Hilda White of Erwin; brother: Lowell White of Johnson City; grandsons: Thomas and Lauren Justice of Kingsport; Willie Tilson of Erwin and Lura Jones of Erwin; great-grandchild: Marleigh Tilson;and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Lena W. Justice will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams St. in Erwin with the Rev. David Crutchfield officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Gary Amos and Phyllis Bennett.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Harold “Sonny” Hendrix, Ray White, Phil Harding, Jim Crawford, Thomas Justice and Willie Tilson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until service time at Calvary Baptist Church. A graveside committal service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Missions at Calvary Baptist Church.
