Karen Lynn Shelton of Erwin, TN passed away at home on June 23, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born June 2, 1946, in Milwaukee, WI where she grew up and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Over the years, Karen moved around with family before settling in Poquoson, VA, where she enjoyed a 16-year career at Riggins Motor Company. During those years, Karen, an avid music lover, spent most of her free time traveling with her husband James’s Bluegrass band. They made several trips “down home” to the Tennessee mountains where Karen fell in love with the area and James’s family.
It was an easy decision for her on where she wanted to spend her retirement days. So, after Karen and James both retired, they made her dreams come true when they purchased their mountain home and settled in Erwin, TN. While in Erwin, Karen was an active member of the community and church and spent her time learning and playing many different instruments.
Karen is survived by her husband, James, son Michael Rothman, daughter Victoria Lutz, her brother Mike Seefeldt, sister Patty Bereza and several nieces and nephews. A viewing and service were held at Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Bluff City, TN. Karen was interred at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Flowers can be sent in her honor to Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church; 150 Elizabeth Ann Circle, Bluff City, TN 37618 or memorials can be made to either the Church or St. Jude Research Hospital.
