Julian Vernon King, age 76, of Erwin, died April 22, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Erwin, TN, August 14, 1936. He was a son of late William F. King and Lillian Edwards King. He attended Love Street Elementary School, Unicoi County High School and graduated from Tennessee Tech with a B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed at the TCI Division of United States Steel, Fairfield, Alabama. He served in the U. S. Army as a Military obligation at Ft. Jackson, S.C. and returned to USS until 1962. Julian then went to work for Boeing Co. in Huntsville, Alabama followed by his employment with NASA. He later worked for Nuclear Fuel Service, Erwin, TN, and was transfered to West Valley New York. Julian returned to NASA at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. He worked for Orlando Utilities and returned to NASA at KSC, from which he retired in 1998.
Mr. Julian King was a member of the Erwin Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, served as the Pastoral Search Committee and was also a member of the choir. Julian was a member of IEEE Engineering Professional Organization, The Erwin Kiwanis Club and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. In addition to his parents, Julian is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverley Gunter King.
He is survived by his wife: Carole Gentry King; his four children:

Dr. Jonathan King, wife Lisa, Columbia, SC, their children, Josh, wife Christina, Nick and wife Cason, Rebecca, Benjamin and Lillian.
Jessica Sidoli, husband Mark, their children, Alyse, Jared and Issac, Estill Springs, TN.
Jeanine Bogle, husband Chuck, their children, Taylor, Tara and Troy, Titusville, FL
Stepchildren: Ted Harrison, Wife Debbie, their children, Elizabeth and Natalie Blair, and Taylor
Harrison, Tim Harrison, Callie Faircloth, husband Green, their children, Callaway and Carole
Sister: Linda Crabtree, Greensboro, NC.
A funeral service will be held, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at the Erwin Presbyterian Church. Visitation is from 11:00 AM until service time.
