Josephine Brackins McIntosh, 77, of 686 McIntosh Road, Flag Pond, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Mars Hill, N.C.
Mrs. McIntosh was born November 8, 1934 in Madison County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Rothie Brackins and Ila Fender Capps.
Mrs. McIntosh was a long time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
Other than parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Nute Jim McIntosh who passed away June 18, 1997; her grandson: Justin DeWayne Briggs; and three brothers: Woodfin Brackins, Gene Brackins, and Delano Brackins.
Survivors include two daughters: Jana Coe and husband, Tommy, Flag Pond, Ella Carver and husband, John, Mars Hill; four grandchildren: Johnathan Carver, Mars Hill, Dustin Briggs, Shane Briggs, Jonesbourgh, Sherry Niederbrach, of Missouri; 12 great-grandchildren; sister: Ernestine Roberts, Asheville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Robert Ledford Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Shelton officiating. Special music was provided by Inez Chandler.
The committal service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug.18, at Rice Creek Cemetery.
Robert Ledford Funeral Home was in charge.
