John Lee Birchfield, age 84, of 205 W. Watauga, Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Erwin Health Care in Erwin. He was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Bob and Maude Thompson Birchfield. Mr. Birchfield served in the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. He was of the Baptist faith and an Auto Mechanic. John accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior on January 28, 2013, through the ministry of Chaplain Catherine Rollins with Caris. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Edwards and Ruth Ray and a brother, Ernest Birchfield.

A military graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Chaplain Catherine Rollins will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Tennessee Army National Guard and Unicoi County Jr. ROTC. Those who will attend will meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery by 9:55 AM, on Thursday.
