Joanne Carver Raber, age 71, of 295 Bill Carver Road, Unicoi, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at her residence.
Born in the Limestone Cove community of Unicoi to Bert and Manda Tolley Carver, Mrs. Raber had lived in Akron, Ohio, since 1950 before retiring in 1996 as a confectioner for Temo’s Candy in Akron.
Mrs. Raber enjoyed making crafts, traveling and researching her family history. She returned to Unicoi County in 2005 and attended Unicoi Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Pressler, in October, 2010.
Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Lee Raber; one daughter, Roxanne Raber, Akron; two sisters, Judy Edwards and husband, Larry B. Edwards, Statesville, N.C., and Janet Randolph, Plymouth, Mich.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Holloway officiating. Music was provided by pianist and organist Inez Chandler.
Pallbearers were Bill Carver, Jack Lazor, Dylan Riddle and other family and friends.
Commital services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Roselawn Memorial Park.
