Joan Lee Jones Woodby

Joan Lee Jones Woodby, age 66, 230 Riverside Drive, Unicoi, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County.
Mrs. Woodby was a born again Christian having been saved in July of 1957. She attended Unicoi Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Woodby was a loving and devoted wife, mom, nanny, daughter, sister, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Vance; grand-daughter, Lydia Vance; father, Willie Lee Jones; two brothers, Steve Jones and Elmer Jack Jones.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 46 years, Doug Woodby; daughter: Lorrie Cochran and husband Steve, Unicoi; four grandsons: the Rev. Jacob Cochran, Caleb Cochran, Luke Cochran, and William Vance; mother: Lillian Whitehead Jones, Erwin; one brother: Doyle Jones and wife Evelyn, Unicoi; three sisters: Janet Byrd and husband Eddie Lee, Unicoi, Joy Lovette and husband Ronnie, Erwin, Vicky Buchanan and husband Ricky, Unicoi.
Funeral service for Mrs. Woodby was held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 23, at Unicoi Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Bennett and the Rev. Jacob Cochran officiated.
Active pallbearers were her nephews, Terry Jones, Jerry Jones, Russell Jones, Harold Jones, Jerry Byrd, Chuckie Jones, and Shawn Hensley. Honorary pallbearers were the ladies of Mrs. Woodby’s Sunday School class.
Interment followed in Peterson Cemetery with the Rev. Brett Jones officiating and her grandsons participating.
Unicoi Funeral Home was in charge.
