Jo Ann Miller

Jo Ann Miller, age 82, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at The Center on Aging and Health.  Born in Salem, Kentucky, Jo Ann is a daughter of the late Joseph Burnett and Louise (Moss) Ryan.  Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and she loved sewing, baking, and reading. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and had formerly been a long time member of First Baptist Church of Erwin where she taught Sunday school. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, L. O. “Bird Dog” Miller in 1999, an infant son, Daniel Owen in 1962 and two younger brothers, David S. Ryan and Michael B. Ryan.

Jo Ann Miller leaves behind to cherish her memory:

Daughters: Nancy Griffith and her husband Jeff of Erwin, Tennessee;

Lea Ann Rodriguez and her husband Santiago of Old Hickory, Tennessee;

Grandchildren:  Miranda Griffith of Erwin, Tennessee;

Christy Griffith and boyfriend Leon Dover of Erwin, Tennessee;

Jacob, Owen, and Julian Rodriguez, all of Old Hickory, TN;

Special friend who she loved like a daughter: Joyce Peterson and her family of Erwin, Tennessee.

She also leaves behind a host of loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Charles Miller and his staff and to Avalon Hospice, especially Meghan and Pandora.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Jo Ann Miller in a graveside committal service to be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Those attending the committal service will go in procession to the cemetery following the visitation period.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Avalon Hospice Agency and/or The Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief, in loving memory of Jo Ann.
