Jimmy Effler, age 44, Smithville, Tennessee, formerly of Erwin, passed away Friday morning, January 10, 2014, at his home following an extended il lness.
He was born August 23, 1969 in Wilmington, Delaware, a son of Brenda Arrowood Effler and David Effler, both of Erwin. Jimmy was a 1987 graduate of Unicoi County High School where he participated in several sports including football, track and basketball. His passion was cars and football. Jimmy was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church and was a loving dad, son, brother and grandson.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nadine Tisdale in 2003; grandfathers: O.B. Arrowood in 2003 and Donald Effler in 2011; an uncle, Roger Arrowood in 2001.
Other than his mother and father, Jimmy is survived by three children: Drew Effler, Bristol, Richie Effler and Nikki Effler, both of Jupiter, Florida; a brother, Jason Effler, Bristol, Tennessee; grandfather, Lloyd Tisdale, Smithville; two grandmothers: Betty Effler, Erwin and Carol Arrowood, New Castle, Delaware. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2014, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Special music will be provided by the Southside Trio. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Jimmy's mother, Brenda, 121 Masters Street, Erwin.
The committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
