Jimmy E. “Bones” Banner, age 81, 167 Madison Street, Erwin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Erwin and son of the late Martin and Lynda Hensley Banner. Mr. Banner was previously employed by Superior Hone for seventeen years and retired from Morgan Insulation. He was a member of Erwin Church of Christ. Mr. Banner was a founding member of the Southside Fire Department in 1976 where he served as Chaplain. He also worked for Quality Care Ambulance Service.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-six years, Mary Banner; two sons: John Banner and wife, Margaret of Erwin, Paul Banner and wife, Debbie of Kingsport; one daughter, Sandra Carver of Erwin; one sister, Mary Harrison of Rawlings, MD; three grandchildren; one step grandson; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Jeff Winters will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be members of the Southside Volunteer Fire Rescue. Committal service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Saturday in the Roselawn Memory Garden. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble by 10:15 A. M. Saturday at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.
