Jettie Mae Vanover, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Embreeville Community of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Garfield and Haley Overbay Markland. She was a seamstress at the former A&A Fashions and Appalachian Garment Mfg., both formerly of Erwin. During her lifetime she enjoyed sports, music and swimming. Jettie was a member of Erwin Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as church organist for over thirty years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vanover is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vanover in December of 1999.

The life of Jettie Mae Vanover will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Earl Ragland will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 P.M. and continue until 8:00 P.M. service time on Wednesday at Valley Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Shelby Artrip, 108 Myrtle Ave., Erwin, TN 37650. A graveside service committal service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to meet at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday by 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Tim Bradford, Ray Vanover, Will Mullins, Brandon Campbell, L.J. King, and Cody Harris. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be David Triplett and Cody Arnold.
