Jean K. “Mamaw Jean” Davis

Jean K. “Mamaw Jean” Davis, age 90, of Unicoi passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Appalachia, VA, Jean was the daughter of Golman Lee and Rhoda E. (Guinn) Marcus. She was a member of Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church where she was very active and had served as Choir Director.  She worked in the Limestone Cove School’s cafeteria and retired after 20 years as Nutrition Coordinator at Clinchfield Senior Adult Center.  Jean was a member of the Limestone Cove Ruritan Club and a member of the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, watching Atlanta Braves Baseball, puzzles, music and reading.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and she had a beautiful alto voice.  In addition to her parents Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Davis, of 35 years; Daughter, Patricia Gentry; Sons, Gary Davis and Phillip K. Davis; Son-in-law, Donald Gentry; Brothers: Clyde Marcus, Ed Marcus, Glenn Marcus, John Marcus and Gilmer Marcus; Sisters, Mary Morrell and Barbara Belcher.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Unaka Internal Medicine, Silver Angels, Caregiver Deanna, the staff of the emergency room and 4th floor of Johnson City Medical Center, Jean’s church family and the staff of Roller Pharmacy for their love and care in this difficult time.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and celebrate the life of Jean K. Davis in a memorial service to be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Limestone Cove 1st UMC.  Reverend Tim Tapp and Reverend Estel Williams will officiate.  Musical selections will be provided by Spencer Blevins, Alice Miller and Joann Boitz. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 and will continue until service time at Limestone Cove 1st UMC.  Jean will be inurned in Bell Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jean’s name to Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church, 2375 TN-107, Unicoi, TN 37692.
