Janice Lee Adkins, 75, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Hubert and Atlas Whitson Metcalf. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Janice was a member of the Eastern Star and loved her grandchildren. She loved working in her flower garden. She especially love her grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkins is preceded in death by her brother, Howard Metcalf.

 

Janice Lee Adkins has left behind to cherish her memories:

Husband of 58 years: Max Adkins of Erwin;

Daughters: Trish Johnson and husband, Terry of Erwin,

Julie Wolfe and husband, Michael of Piney Flats;

Son: Thomas Adkins and wife, Mandi of Erwin;

Brothers: Hubert Metcalf, Jr. and wife, Brenda of Erwin,

Jack Metcalf and wife, Nancy of Erwin;

Sister: Louise Edwards and husband, Arnold of Erwin;

Grandchildren: Ashton Willis and husband, Clint of Erwin,

Jordan Johnson,

Ryan Adkins,

Logan Adkins,

Caraline Adkins,

Dillon Wolfe,

Kylee Wolfe;

Great Grandson: Karter Willis;

Special Friends: Polly Booth and Mildred Silvers

And several Nieces and Nephews.

 

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Janice Lee Adkins in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Curtis Hurt will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Holly and Laney Falin. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Wednesday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM on Thursday to go in procession to Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Adkins’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of the 4500 unit at the Johnson City Medical Center and also to the staff at the cancer center.
