James Tucker, age 83, of Daphne, Ala., died peacefully at his home with his family around him on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2012.
He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Erwin. Mr. Tucker was a graduate of East Tennessee State University, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and an area director of the Wage and Hour Division in the U.S. Department of Labor for 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lillian Allred Tucker, three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bobbie G. Tucker; two daughters: Julie T. McKiven (Dr. Mel), of Spanish Fort, Ala., Barbara Tucker of Alabama; son: James A. Tucker Jr. of Daphne, Ala.; granddaughter: Christina Tucker of Daphne, Ala.; and grandson: Tucker McKiven of Spanish Fort, Ala.
A memorial service was held at the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church or the charity of choice in Mr. Tucker’s name.
