James Madison Charles, 80, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018. Jim was born in Erwin, Tennessee, on November 3, 1937. He was the son of Clell and Maxine Charles, the youngest of five children. Survivors include his wife, Diana, a daughter, Pamela Turzanski (married to Jan), a son, James Charles (married to Susan), two granddaughters, Maddy Diane and Jessie Marie, and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Elijah.
Jim graduated from East Tennessee State University and enjoyed a long career in the mirror and glass industry. He served two terms as President of the National Association of Mirror Manufacturers and was a member of the Board of Directors for ten years. Jim also was involved in the Glass Association of North America and served on the technical and marketing committees where he was involved in the development of codes and product specifications for glass products as used in the commercial and residential construction markets.
Jim loved his family and dogs, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed his many friends. He will be missed.
