James L. Treadway

He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Mr. Treadway was a State Gideon Officer, Boy Scout Leader, Member of Hospice Advisory Board and President of the Unicoi County High School Band Boosters. He enjoyed wood-crafting and made many beautiful wood-crafts for his family and friends. James liked to garden and till gardens for neighbors, friends and family. He enjoyed participating in his bowling league during his military career. Mr. Treadway went on a mission trip to Romania where he and his mission team built a church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Treadway on September 24, 1998; four brothers: Dallas, Ernest, Guy Lee and Fremon; one sister, Willa Dean Rocchins; brothers-in-law: Jim Rocchins and Everette Cooper; sister-in-law, Anita Treadway.
James leaves behind to cherish his memories, three sons: James “Doug” Treadway and wife, Diana, Kennesaw, GA, Charles Treadway and wife, LaDonna, Concord, CA, Timothy D. Treadway and wife, Julie, Andersonville, TN; one brother, Floyd Treadway and wife, Judy, Rustburg, VA; three sisters: Bea Morton and husband, James, Wingate, NC, Lois Ann Cooper, Irving, TX, Lucille Dudley and husband, Dennis, Yadkinville, NC; eight grandchildren: Jessica Sisson and husband, Joel, Brandon Treadway and wife, Amy, Larissa Treadway, Nichole Treadway, Sean Treadway and wife, Brooke, Austin Treadway, Kira Treadway and Hannah Treadway; one great grandson, Maverick Sisson; three sisters-in-law: Peggy Treadway, Phyllis Treadway and Barbara Treadway. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service at Clear Branch Baptist Church. Reverend Jack Holland will officiate at the 5:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler, Pastor Larry and Martha Wiley. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 P.M. On Monday.
