James L. Linville, age 83, 319 Scott Road, Unicoi, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
He was a native of Unicoi County, a son of the late Nathaniel David and Bessie Beatrice Tapp Linville. Mr. Linville retired in 1991 from Clinchfield Railroad and served as secretary/ treasurer of the Railroad Machinists Union for a number of years. He attended Unicoi United Methodist Church.
Other than parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Marion Linville, Robert Linville and H.C. Linville; two sisters: Lucille Piercy and Betty Black.
Mr. Linville is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 66 years: Hilda Black Linville; three sons: Jeff Linville and wife, Lynda, Unicoi, Keith Linville and wife, Sherry, Pigeon Forge and Larry Linville, Unicoi; a daughter-in-law: Angie Linville, Johnson City; two grandsons: Brian Linville, Unicoi, Jimmy Linville and wife, Stephanie, Chuckey; four granddaughters: Shauna Teaster and husband, Dr. David Teaster, Knoxville, Heather Willis and husband, Ryan, Knoxville, Mindy Ahuactzin and husband, Gerardo, Johnson City and Sophia Linville, Knoxville; six great grandchildren; four sisters: Marie Ramsey and husband, Jerry, Unicoi, Eula Tipton, Johnson City, Ann Yeager and husband, Don, Knoxville and Kay McInturff, Unicoi; two sisters-in-law: Daphne Linville, Erwin and Ruth Linville, Unicoi.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Linville will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Patricia Linville Holbert and Reverend Todd Kingrea will officiate. Special music will be provided by Martha Pinner and Buffy Greene. Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews and family members.
Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the family home.
