James Andrew Miller, age 84, of Palmyra, Mich., died Feb. 28, 2011, at Bixby Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Unicoi, the son of Fred and Etta (Jones) Miller. On Aug. 6, 1949, he married Vera Sanderson, his wife of 61 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Miller retired in 1983 from Hoover Ball Bearing in Indiana. After retirement he worked with Rollins Security.
He also enjoyed working at Hidden Lake Gardens, especially spending time at Cobbler’s Knob. He had a passion for baseball and coached Little League and senior league. His PTA award-winning carrot cake was always a hit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Farrell Miller, Herman Miller and Curtis Miller; two sisters, Pauline Miller in infancy and Pat Messimer; brothers-in-law, Don Messimer and Curtis Howell; and sisters-in-law, Helen Miller and Melba Miller.
In addition to his wife, Vera, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kristen Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bart Bradley; grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Kaye Miller Sr., Jeremy and Leslie Miller, Nicole and Anthony Karver, Joel Miller, Vanessa Bradley, Amanda Bradley and Kayla Bradley; great-grandchildren, Christopher Miller Jr., Jessica Miller, Samantha Miller, Payton Miller, Jeremy Miller Jr., Savannah Karver and Anthony Karver Jr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester, Gene and Quita Miller, and Roy and Donna Miller; sisters, Virginia Howell and Pansy Messimer; brother-in-law, Wendell Messimer; sister-in-law, Madge Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends at Hidden Lake Gardens, Debbie Miller and special acquaintances around the community.
